Lunch and Learn: Catholic Cemeteries Green Burial
Thursday, February 6, 2025
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Are you curious about the option of a Catholic ‘Green Burial’, an organic return to the earth at the end of life? When the body of Jesus was removed from the cross, it was washed, wrapped in a cloth shroud, and placed in a tomb. When a loved one dies, we commit the body to the earth, “For we are dust and to dust we shall return.” People are taking this belief to heart with a desire to return to a more natural, less industrial approach to death and burial, while maintaining reverence for the deceased. Come hear from the Executive Director of The Catholic Cemeteries discuss Catholic ‘Green Burial’; ask questions, and take away information for others in your family who want to learn more about this environmentally friendly option.
Registration is not required, but highly admired. Simply contact the Parish Secretary at parishsecretary@olgparish.org or 952-929-3317.

The Teaching Mass will be a great experience to help us more fully live out this year’s theme, Remain in Me and Bear Much Fruit. Title: What is the Eucharist and Why Should I Care?
Many of us recognize that the Lord’s Day and the Eucharist are important – or, at least, they are supposed to be. But in all honesty, it can be hard to know how to fit them into our busy lives. This presentation takes a Biblical look at the Eucharist and the Sabbath, and offers practical ideas for busy people to honor the Lord’s Day with greater intention. In addition, current research will be shared that shows the surprising connections between worship and overall happiness and well-being. Come learn about the Eucharist and why it matters in our daily lives. (for teens and adults).

Theme: You are His Masterpiece: How Sacred Art Helps to Bring us to the Transforming Love of God
“Approximately 15 years ago, I had the privilege and blessing of sculpting our crucifix. And therefore, as part of our series on the Mass, I have been asked to talk about our crucifix and the role sacred art plays in worship. At this lecture, I will share some of my insights and experiences with sacred art. However, my main hope for our time together is that those coming will see in a deeper way that they are God’s masterpiece, created for his good purpose and glory. I hope you will come!” - Sheryl Moran
