Into the Depths Speaker Series

Date: Tuesday, January 7, 6:30 - 8:00 PM
Speaker: Dr. Pamela Patnode
Title:  What is the Eucharist and Why Should I Care?
Description: Many of us recognize that the Lord’s Day and the Eucharist are important – or, at least, they are supposed to be. But in all honesty, it can be hard to know how to fit them into our busy lives. This presentation takes a Biblical look at the Eucharist and the Sabbath, and offers practical ideas for busy people to honor the Lord’s Day with greater intention. In addition, current research will be shared that shows the surprising connections between worship and overall happiness and well-being. Come learn about the Eucharist and why it matters in our daily lives. (for teens and adults).

Young Professionals Monthly Holy Hour

First Thursday of Every Month

Next Holy Hour: Thursday, December 5
Time:
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Location: Our Lady of Grace, Edina

Young professionals (ages 21 - 35) gather for an hour of Adoration, Confessions, and song. A light social in the Commons follows.

"Attending ‘Holy Hour at OLG’ was a breath of fresh air! Dozens of candles lit up the Church and surrounded the monstrance as we gathered together. For an hour we lifted up our voices in song and our hearts in prayer. I felt at home with this group of young professionals praising and worshipping our Lord. Fr. Kevin graciously made himself available for confessions, staying until the last person was finished. After our time of prayer, song, and meditation, we were invited to the Commons for a social. Beer, Wine, Seltzers, and snacks were available while we were able to connect with friends and other young professionals." ~ Elizabeth Felsheim, OLG Young Professional/Parishioner

Looking ahead 2025 Dates:

Thursday, January 2
Thursday, February 6
Thursday, March 6

Into the Depths Speaker Series

Date: Monday, December 2, 6:30 - 8:00 PM
Speaker: Sheryl Moran
Theme: You are His Masterpiece: How Sacred Art Helps to Bring us to the Transforming Love of God
Description: Approximately 15 years ago, I had the privilege and blessing of sculpting our crucifix. And therefore, as part of our series on the Mass, I have been asked to talk about our crucifix and the role sacred art plays in worship. At this lecture, I will share some of my insights and experiences with sacred art. However, my main hope for our time together is that those coming will see in a deeper way that they are God’s masterpiece, created for his good purpose and glory. I hope you will come!

Session 1 | O Sacred Banquet: Eucharistic Theology in Four Parts

Watch kickoff of the Into the Depths Speaker Series! Fr. Nick Vance will dive deep into the profound mystery of the Eucharist with a captivating presentation inspired by the liturgy for Corpus Christ written by St. Thomas Aquinas. This one verse from the Alleluia will be the foundation of the 4-part talk:

“O sacred banquet! in which Christ is received, the memory of his Passion is renewed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory to us is given.”

In this session, we will explore the theological richness of the Eucharist in four parts:

  • Christ is Truly Received: Uncover the doctrine of transubstantiation and what it means for us.

  • Memorial of Christ’s Passion: Experience how this sacred meal brings Christ’s sacrifice into the present moment.

  • Filled with Grace: Discover the transformative power of the Eucharist in our lives.

  • Anticipation of Future Glory: Reflect on our hope for complete union with God in Heaven.

Each segment will be a thoughtful 10-minute exploration, complete with a handout outlining major points and key quotations to enhance your understanding. If you have questions, please contact Jessica.

Young Professionals Fall Retreat

From Friday, October 25 at 7:00 PM
to Sunday, October 27, 12:00 PM

There is a refreshment, a peace, a recentering on Jesus that oftentimes is experienced by those on a retreat. If you have never been on a retreat, have not been on a retreat for some time (over a year), or even if you were on our most recent retreat, we would love for you to join us.

Regardless of what life is feeling like right now, an annual retreat is a must for every Catholic. We step away from the pace of life to breathe. We take time to be intentional with the Lord and to hear His still, small voice in the silence. We have the opportunity to commit or recommit to living an intentional and abundant life in Christ. As Saint Paul writes, “And my God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 4:19). God is the answer to our desires. May we open up our hearts to the full and lasting satisfaction that can come from God alone.

We will be heading about an hour away to the beautiful Dunrovin Retreat Center, located north of Stillwater. 50 acres of the natural outdoors—a gorgeous woods for walking and simply being out in nature with the St. Croix River right there to remind us of the beauty of God’s creation.

Registration is full for this event.

Great news! The Catholic Community Foundation (CCF) has awarded Our Lady of Grace a grant in the amount of $2,000 to support the Young Professionals Fall Retreat! Grants like this help keep the cost of retreats and other programs affordable for the members of our Young Professionals ministry. Thank you, CCF!

Teaching Mass: Walk through the Mass Step-By-Step with Father Kevin

Tuesday, October 1, 6:15 - 7:45 PM in the Church and Commons

The Walk through the Mass Step-By-Step with Fr. Kevin and Fr. Nick is a great place to learn more about the why behind what we do!

Come and discover the deeper meaning of the items we use and the gestures we do!

Have you ever wondered why we cross our forehead, lips, and chest at the Gospel?  Have you ever wondered what Father says to himself sometimes during the Mass?   Have you ever wondered when exactly does Jesus become present on the altar?

Join us for A Walk through the Mass Step-by-Step with Father Kevin and Father Nick. You’ll receive a worship aide with additional fun facts, scripture references, and deeper insights into the prayers. The Teaching Mass will be a great way to kick off this year’s theme, Remain in Me and Bear Much Fruit. By learning about what we do at Mass and why we do it, we will come to a greater understanding of this great prayer the Lord has given us. What we come to know, we are more likely to love, and what we love, we desire to share.

If you have questions, please contact Jessica.
