What is Baptism?
Baptism is the Sacrament of rebirth into life in Jesus. Through it comes the forgiveness of sins, adoption into God's family, new life in Christ, and membership into His body, the Church.
The Baptism of Children at Our Lady of Grace
Here are the steps to having your child celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism at Our Lady of Grace:
Fill out our Baptism Registration Form to register for a Baptism Class and to begin the process of reserving a date for your child’s Baptism. We typically celebrate Baptisms on the first and third Sunday monthly after the 11:30 AM Mass, but please confirm dates on our registration form. Check-in begins at 12:35 PM and the celebration begins at 12:45 PM.
We baptize over 100 children a year (which is great!), so we cannot offer a private or individual Baptism except for special circumstances of health. We do this to care for our priests.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Please contact Mackenzie at mackenzieduvall@olgparish.org with any questions or concerns.
Once we receive your registration, you will be asked to provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate. You can either mail a photo copy to the Parish Office (ATTN: Mackenzie Garcia, 5071 Eden Ave, Edina, MN 55436) or email a picture to Mackenzie at mackenzieduvall@olgparish.org.
Become a member of our parish community. Click here or consult the bulletin for our next New Parishioner Welcome.
Is this your first child to be baptized? Are you a new parishioner? Haven’t attended a class in the last five years? Attend a Baptism Preparation Class! We host classes every other month on a designated Tuesday from 6:00 - 7:15 PM at the parish. We highly recommend you attend a class while still pregnant, so your child can be baptized as soon as possible. RSVP by filling out our Baptism Registration Form.
Attended the class within the last five years? You are not required to attend the Baptism Class again.
If you have any questions, please contact Mackenzie at mackenzieduvall@olgparish.org or in the Parish Office (x9048).
For children 3 years old and older, we have selected dates for Baptism that will allow the priests to meet their needs for the sacrament. When you fill out the registration form, please select from one of the dates labeled 3 years and older. Infants are welcome to join their older siblings for these dates if families prefer to Baptize them together.
For children currently in kindergarten and older, please contact Mackenzie at mackenzieduvall@olgparish.org.
