November Donation Collection for Veterans

November Donation Collection

Throughout the month of November, OLG is partnering with several military veteran organizations to provide items to local veterans.

Items needed include the following:
New men’s undershirts, underwear and socks
Reusable bags, duffles and backpacks (gently used is ok!)
Bags of coffee

Please place donated items into the giving bins outside Cassidy Hall.


Veterans Day Program

Friday, November 10 | 1:30 - 2:45 PM

Our 4th - 8th Grade OLG School students hosted a Veterans Day Program on Friday, November 10! The program included a speech from LTC Tom O’Keefe (see below), a few songs played by our student band and a chance for students to visit with veterans.

LTC Tom O’Keefe grew up in Edina and attended Our Lady of Grace from Kindergarten through 8th grade. He attended high school at St. Thomas Academy and earned a R.O.T.C. Scholarship to St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN. Upon graduating from St. John’s, he commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army.

Tom spent seven years in the Active Duty Army with assignments in Texas, Colorado, and Germany along with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2011, LTC O’Keefe resigned his Active Duty Commission and joined the Army Reserves. His assignment locations have included: Milwaukee, Wisconsin; San Antonio, Texas; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Chicago, Illinois;  and New York City. Currently, he is serving as a Battalion Commander at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.

His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

LTC O’Keefe currently works for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN as a Lead Security Engineer within a Cybersecurity Operations Center, where he focuses on threat detection and incident response. He resides in Northeast Iowa with his wife, Juliet, and two daughters, Elena and Rosilyn.
