Live at OLG with Chris Kostelc

Thursday, May 18, 7:00 PM, Cassidy Hall

Cocktails. Mocktails. Conversations that Matter.

The Suite Life of Chris and Kory –
The Final Live at OLG of the Season

Chris Kostelc is back. Our first repeat customer. And he’s bringing a friend.

If you couldn’t make it the last time, Chris enlightened us about the importance of storytelling in sharing the Gospel. This time we have no idea what the man is going to talk about, and frankly neither does he. If you’re in for that kind of electricity and spontaneity, get ready to have yourself a night.

What friend is Chris bringing in? Lifelong (well, since 2010) friend, Kory LaCroix. Chris and Kory were youth ministers together at Holy Name of Jesus for 9 years. Again, it’s going to be electric.

Two truths and a lie which will be revealed this Thursday

Two truths and a lie about Chris:

  • Used to be an airline pilot.

  • Can’t whistle.

  • Once won a children’s coloring contest after signing up his daughter (she painted a little bit of the picture so it wasn’t cheating).

Two truths and a lie about Kory:

  • He enjoys romance comedies.

  • Was part of a hype up group at Saint John’s University called the “Rat Pack”.

  • Worked in construction during the summers primarily to get tan.

Live at OLG with Sister Teresa Rose

Thursday, April 20th, 7 p.m. - Cassidy Hall

Cocktails. Mocktails. Conversations that Matter.

Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus

Live at OLG is a monthly conversation series for young professionals. Imagine a collaboration between a late night show, a cocktail lounge, and the Catholic Church. That’s the vibe at “Live at OLG.”

This month we are engaging in conversation with Sister Teresa Rose of the Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus.

Have you ever met a religious sister and thought, “How is this person so awesome? How did you become like that?” Prayer. Intentional Christian friendships. Sacraments. Poverty. Chastity, Obedience. This isn’t a plug for religious life, this is a plug for abundant life. Sister Teresa Rose joins us as a daughter of God living the new life Christ has called each of us to. Jesus wants that for us. Let’s take a deeper step into that this Thursday.

Sr. Teresa Rose is from the Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus, a religious community based in Minnesota. The Handmaids serve as spiritual Mothers in parishes as a complement to the Diocesan Priest. Sr. Teresa Rose is originally from Maryland but moved out to the Twin Cities to serve as a missionary at the U of M with Saint Paul's Outreach in 2014. She joined the Handmaids in 2016 and currently lives at their convent in Hopkins. She oversees formation for the first year sisters as well as serves at the University of Minnesota and Chesterton Academy.

More about the Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus: here.

We look forward to having you join us on this great night!

Live at OLG with Emily Albrecht

“A Fresh Approach to Challenging Conversations in a Post-Roe America”

Thursday, March 16, 7 p.m. - Cassidy Hall

Cocktails. Mocktails. Conversations that Matter.

Emily Albrecht

Live at OLG is a monthly conversation series for young professionals. Imagine a collaboration between a late night show, a cocktail lounge, and the Catholic Church. That’s the vibe at “Live at OLG.”

This month we are engaging in conversation with Emily Albrecht, Director of Education & Outreach at Equal Rights Institute.

Picture yourself hanging out with a friend. You’re sitting in the living room and the conversation turns to abortion. You’re not sure what to say so you try to change the topic. But your friend wants to talk about it. They’re pro-choice. What do you do? Let’s find out. Join us on March 16th in learning how to have effective and charitable conversations with friends, family, and even strangers about abortion.

Emily Albrecht comes ready to equip us with 1) useful pro-life arguments, 2) skills in having difficult conversations with those who have different opinions (on any topic), and 3) share with us our role as Catholic laypeople in the pro-life movement.

Emily is an expert in fostering respectful and productive dialogues regarding abortion. As a recent college graduate, Emily understands what it feels like to walk unprepared into a culture that is overwhelmingly pro-choice. She was faced daily with challenges to the pro-life position that she didn’t know how to answer, and she was afraid to speak out. She wants to equip pro-life advocates with the tools to intimately understand and articulate their pro-life convictions in a productive and compassionate manner.

We look forward to having you join us on this great night!

Live at OLG with Ryan O’Hara Marriage, Mission, and Misexpectations

Thursday, February 16, 7 p.m. - Cassidy Hall

Cocktails. Mocktails. Conversations that Matter.

Ryan O’Hara

Live at OLG is a monthly conversation series for young professionals. Imagine a collaboration between a late night show, a cocktail lounge, and the Catholic Church. That’s the vibe at “Live at OLG.”

This month we are engaging in conversation with Ryan O’Hara, Content Director at Saint Paul’s Outreach.

We will explore Ryan’s story via God's call to mission and marriage, infertility, foster-care, adoption and now the work of ongoing hospitality that he and his family are doing with homeless teens/young adults. A story of heartache, triumph, prayer, joy, and healing.

Regardless of your state in life - single, dating, married - this Live at OLG is for you.

About Ryan:

Who is Ryan O’Hara? Let’s hear from his perspective:

“I’m Ryan O’Hara, a Catholic guy who lives in West St Paul, MN with my wife Jill and our four sons.  I have been helping college students and young adults live for big things, like it's my job, since 1997.

What sort of 'big things' are you talking about Ryan? Well, I'm glad you asked. The first big thing is helping them answer Jesus' question "who do you say that I am?"  The second big thing is walking with them as they discover, in light of the first big thing, who they are supposed to become, what they were born to do, and who they should journey with through all that life throws at them.

So whether it was my job or not, I would be compelled to do it.”

If you’re not sure if you’d like to join, maybe this will get you over the edge: Check out his website for a few “semi-interesting facts” about Ryan. They are sure to get you in the door. Please join us on this great night!

Time for God: YP Series on Prayer

What: Prayer – it’s our relationship with God. But how do we pray? We take time to praise, thank, ask, and relate with God, but it’s not easy. Distractions, time, and lack of desire are just a few reasons we drift away from prayer. And it happens to everybody.

We will turn to Father Jacques Philippe for guidance in this 3-part series on prayer. In his book, Time for God, Philippe addresses what prayer is, our internal disposition in prayer, and methods of prayer. We’ll take time in small groups to talk about prayer with other young professionals. To end each night, we will try a different method of prayer.

We’d love to have you join us in coming to know Jesus more!

When: Tuesdays January 24, 31, February 7

Time: 7:30-9:00 pm

Where: Dining Room - Our Lady of Grace

How to get the book: OLG will buy Time for God in bulk. Please purchase Time for God from OLG while at Live at OLG on January 19th or line up a time with Tyler to buy the book in advance of January 24. $10 per book.

What to Bring: Time for God by Father Jacques Philippe

What to Bring (Optional): A journal for prayer time.

Contact: Tyler McCollum or Kory LaCroix.

Cost: Free.

Live at OLG with Kelly Wahlquist

Thursday, January 19, 7 p.m. - Cassidy Hall

Cocktails. Mocktails. Conversations that Matter.

Kelly Wahlquist

Live at OLG is a monthly conversation series for young professionals. Imagine a collaboration between a late night show, a cocktail lounge, and the Catholic Church. That’s the vibe at “Live at OLG.”

This month we are engaging in conversation with Kelly Wahlquist about everything Catholic - the Catechism, the new evangelization, importance of small groups, importance of learning our faith, being a Catholic parent, and more.

Kelly Wahlquist is a dynamic and inspiring Catholic speaker whose gift of weaving personal stories and Scripture together with practical advice allows her audience to enter more fully into what Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict have called us into - to be witnesses of our faith and part of the New Evangelization.

Kelly travels the country speaking to all on various topics that inspire us to live the New Evangelization. She resides in Minnesota with her husband, Andy. Please join us on this great night!
