Funeral Mass Friday, November 27, 10:30 AM
At 88 years old, Cemida Rosa Alfonzo peacefully passed away November 21st, losing her tough battle with Leukemia. An Abuela to everyone around her, she found a way to charm and make friends with anyone - from the bus driver to teenagers at her work. As a family, we were always surprised to see how many people were a fan of Abuela. She always seemed to win people over, whether through her delicious meals or infectious laugh.
One way that Abuela showed her love was through her hospitality. Friends went over to her house, where Abuela would cook meals, or Abuela would go over to their houses, hands filled with pots, pans, and spices, ready to cook.
Abuela was hard working, fierce, determined. She worked at Margo Patisserie and then at Jerry’s Food in Edina. Unwavering in her faith, Abuela was unafraid for anything coming her way, including her illness.
Minneapolis, Minnesota was Abuela’s home for the last 25 years of her life. Survived by his four children, Julio Victor (Ana Vegas), Mabel (Brian Boycott), Carlota y Carlos (Patricia Mudoy), and 9 grandchildren, one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her mother Antonia Chacin and father Jesus Maria Duran, siblings Nelson Antonio†, Rubén Darío†, Rangel Antonio†, Obdulio Jesús, María Maximina, Dalia Josefina†, Anderson Antonio†.
