Ann Marie Wiessner, age 66, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022, surrounded by her children. Preceded in death by her father, Roman Adam. Ann was a proud mother of two children, Max (Melinda) and Greta (Christopher Fitzgerald) Wiessner, and was a "second mom" to many nieces and nephews, godchildren, her children's friends, and friends' children. She is also survived by her mother, Rita Adam; brothers, David (Pat) and Michael (Kassy Kenney) Adam; sister, Kathleen (Warren) Boughton; and many treasured friends and relatives. Ann will be remembered for her quick wit, infectious laugh, resilience, and insatiable sweet tooth.
Ann grew up in St. Paul and attended St. Agnes School. She studied journalism at the University of Minnesota (class of 1979), where she forged lifelong friendships with her Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority sisters. In fact, Ann made friends everywhere she went. Her robust network of friends was a source of comfort and joy through life's many challenges. Ann's family and friends could always rely on her character and empathy, with a side of good humor, in their own times of need. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds.
Ann had a formidable career as an account executive in the advertising industry. Despite her cancer diagnosis in 2017, Ann continued to work at J.T. Mega Food Advertising until her retirement in 2021. A testament to her German roots, Ann was rarely idle. She loved to cook, go to movies, go for long walks-preferably around a lake, and read dozens of books each year. Ann was a dedicated parishioner at Our Lady of Grace and expressed her faith through service. She was widely admired for her steadfast faith.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 10, 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Edina. Visitation one hour prior. Livestream available. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Wallin Education Partners or Save The Children.
