Dornquast, Matthew Durand of Minneapolis, MN passed away suddenly from natural causes on February 4th, 2022. He was born in Massachusetts on May 17, 1966, to Suzanne Rae-Ellen Johnston and Thomas Wayne Dornquast. Matthew was a self-taught tech prodigy who started his career well before graduating from Roosevelt High school in Minneapolis. He would go on to create a truly prolific career in the start-up tech world, both through his own creations, in collaboration with others, and through investing in causes and startups he believed in. He is survived by his wife Colleen, his 5 daughters Camilla, Evelyn, Josephine, Madeline & Genevieve, his mother Suzanne Johnston, brother Nathan (Kim) Dornquast and sister Raelene (Jeff) Ostberg, and bonus brother's Peter and Eric Nelson. Preceded in death by his father Thomas Dornquast in 2000. Matthew Dornquast was a creator. Instead of waiting for adventure, innovation, or opportunities, he created them. He went through life learning every day and strove to design a future where things simply worked better and made more sense. He faced frustrations and hurdles with unwavering optimism. Everything was a game to be mastered. While still finishing high school, he was a pioneering tech professional. Working at Microworks, Control Data, Blue Cross, and then, at just 22, becoming the C.T.O. (Chief Technical Officer) of the renowned ad agency Fallon. Matt was on the cutting edge of bringing companies online, personally building servers, networks, applications, and helping create the entirely new industry of online branding that we see today. He helped define what it is to have a company, a website, tracking, and communication. He started a new company Code42 with two of his close friends as an IT consultant firm. Under his guidance as co-founder, C.E.O., and Board Chair, Code42 went on to be one of the most successful technology companies in Minnesota, landing the largest private investment in our state in 2012. Until the day he died, Matthew was, as he always was: Caring, Loving, Patient, Brilliant, Funny, and above all Loved. Goodbye Matthew, we love you, we will miss you.
