  1. Did you know that today is the First Sunday of Advent, AND the very first day of our new liturgical year? 

  2. Who wrote the gospel story we heard today? (Mark: at the start of a new liturgical year the gospel changes; we switched from hearing the Gospel of Matthew in year A to hearing the Gospel of Mark in year B).   

  3. What is Jesus telling his disciples in today’s gospel? (Always be ready to meet the Lord for you do not know when he will come again!) 

  4. Jesus says the Master leaves the servants in charge, each with their own work to do. What work do you think Jesus is asking you to do?

  1. In today’s gospel, whom did Jesus say will sit on his glorious throne, like a shepherd separating sheep from goats? (The Son of Man) 

  2. Jesus tells of many ways the King will say the sheep (the righteous, people on his right) served him. Can you tell me 2 or 3 of these ways?   

  3. What will the King say to the goats (people on his left)? “I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.” 

  4. Why do you think we read this gospel passage as we close our liturgical year on the Feast of Christ the King? 

  5. As a family, what is one way your family will commit to serving the least ones?
