Ministry Partnership with Youth Ministry

Our Ministry Partners are a vital part of our ministry; this mission would not be possible without you! Our ministry partners are more than “just a volunteer”—they are truly partners and co-laborers in this ministry. Please keep reading to learn more!

I am thinking about becoming a Ministry Partner with HS Youth Ministry… but what do our youth at Our Lady of Grace need?

As Saint John Paul the Great said, “It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be ground down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.”

Thank you for answering God’s call!

Here at Our Lady of Grace, our HS Youth Ministry Program is meant to engage young people where they are at in their journey to respond to the ultimate call of all of our lives: the call to be an intentional disciple of God. Today’s youth do not connect to programs, they connect with people. The most effective way to impact teens is through significant relationships with caring adults. One of the common roadblocks for adults volunteering is the misconception about what it takes to be part of the Youth Ministry “Core Team”.

Some common misconceptions are...

  • You must be young

  • You must be a biblical scholar

  • You must be a perfect example of a Christian

  • You must be a captivating communicator

  • You must be able to act like the youth

  • You must have plenty of free time

  • You must play guitar

  • You must be wild, crazy and dynamic

  • You must be liked by all

Remember

“Today Christ is asking each of you the same question: do you love Me? He is not asking you whether you know how to speak to crowds, whether you can direct an organization or manage an estate. He is asking you to love Him. All the rest will ensue.” – Saint John Paul the Great

Here’s the truth about what our youth need…

Youth need adults who will:

  • Love God and live for Christ

  • Love youth and be interested in their lives

  • Take the initiative to get to know our youth

  • Pray for our youth

  • Be real

  • Say encouraging things

  • Believe in youth

  • Laugh and have a good time

  • Remember names

  • Share God’s love through personal experiences

  • Be consistent with your attendance

  • Be patient

  • Love being Catholic

There are many different roles and jobs in our Youth Ministries that we need filled. Give our Youth Ministry office a call; we will gladly share with you our passion for our youth and all the different ways that you make a difference in their lives! Contact our Youth Ministry staff today!
