Barbara Roberson Funeral

Wednesday, April 27 | 1:30 PM

Mary Barbara (Bobbie) Krump Roberson, 86, Edina, died on April 9, 2022.

Bobbie began her wonderful life in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on September 18, 1935.  She enjoyed growing up in a large loving family with her parents and eight brothers and sisters, even though they all had to use an outhouse as their home lacked an indoor toilet.  When Bobbie’s Dad, Adolph Krump passed away at a young age, Bobbie and her siblings were raised by their mother, Loraine Krump (Witt).  Much of Bobbie’s drive to achieve and be able to fend for herself, while still being a good person was instilled in her by her amazing mom.  A woman truly ahead of her time.

Bobbie perhaps not surprisingly chose a career as a caregiver, specializing as a nurse anesthetist. She excelled at helping her patients navigate both the emotional and physical aspects of surgeries during her tenure at several Twin Cities’ hospitals.  She was devoted to her profession, her colleagues, and most of all to her patients.  Bobbie was fortunate to have found two loving husbands, Charles “Bud” Galway and John Roberson, both of whom loved her dearly.  While Bobbie didn’t have any of her own children, she was blessed with lots of nephews and nieces who considered Bobbie their “second mom” as she loved and cared for them as a mom. In fact, Bobbie’s passion for her profession was outshone only by the love she showered on her extended family.  Throughout her lifetime Bobbie always set her own personal bars quite high in all things truly important in life – leading others not by words, but by her examples.

Bobbie supported her family in countless ways with a quiet dignity, graciousness, and wisdom.  She was profoundly generous in every way that a person can be generous.  As only a true “giver” can, Bobbie never expected anything in return, only asking that you “pay it forward.”  Many were lifted by her examples, support, kindness and thoughtfulness.  We will cherish our times together with Bobbie in sincere gratitude for the good graces that allowed our paths to cross.  While Bobbie is no longer with us physically, her spirit remains, reminding us always to the best person we can be, and to always “pay it forward.”

Bobbie is survived by siblings; Beatrice (William) Manske of Edina, MN, brothers William (Lois) Krump of Morris, MN, and Peter (Joan) Krump of Loveland, CO; stepchildren Kari (Jerry) Howie of Goldsboro, NC, and Clay (Sandy) Roberson, Greenville, SC; 26 nieces and nephews; and too many friends to count.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her loving husbands, Charles (Bud) Galway, and John Roberson; parents, Adolph and Loraine; sisters Marlys (Bob) Haedrich, Lorraine (“Smitty” Smith, and Harold) Lemke, JoAnn (Darrell “Lefty”) Miller; and brothers Norman (Marion) Krump, and Chuck (Mary) Krump.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 5071 Eden Ave. Edina. Private Interment Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis.
